Hans Exner fra Rambøll: Når taget er selve signaturen
Tekniske landevindinger har muliggjort usædvanlige og spektakulære tagkonstruktioner, og chefrådgiver i Rambøll, Hans Exner, oplever en øget opmærksomhed fra arkitekternes side omkring at udnytte tagfladen æstetisk og til ny funktionalitet.
- Taget på Operaen er bygningens signatur. Det er med sine dimensioner på 158 meter gange 90 meter enestående, og en stor del af taget svæver frit uden understøttende søjler.
Taget har fra starten været projektets bærende arkitektoniske ide, og jeg kender kun ét sammenligneligt tagprojekt; det ligger i Lucerne, og her har man ikke brugt samme teknik og ambition, udtaler chefrådgiver i Rambøll, Hans Exner, der har stået for tagkonstruktionen i tæt samarbejde med Henning Larsen Architects. Tagfladen har vundet den prestigefyldte internationale konstruktionspris fra IABSE (International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering).
Lethedens udtryk
- Vi ingeniører er også stolte af at bygge noget, der er flot, smiler Hans Exner, der fremhæver, at opgaven på Københavns Opera har været at holde taget så tyndt som muligt uden at gå på kompromis med kravene til styrke og stivhed:
- Den kæmpestore udkragning gav os store udfordringer undervejs i projekteringen, da den skal kunne modstå store statiske og dynamiske påvirkninger.
Vi tegnede og regnede taget om mange gange med en stadigt tykkere konstruktion, og i den proces blev vi mismodige, da vi fjernede os mere og mere fra udgangspunktet.
Nu var vi så heldige, at der på dette projekt var en bygherre, som var villig til at se bort fra ekstraomkostninger for at nå målet, og så valgte vi at kombinere bygningsteknik med broteknik for at opfylde de arkitektoniske krav.
Her udnyttede vi erfaringer fra vore brobyggerkolleger i Rambøll, hvor vi på den måde udfordrede hinanden og brugte det bedste fra begge verdener.
Rådgivningsvirksomheden har efterfølgende anvendt broteknik på andre velkendte bygninger, såsom Museet for Søfart i Helsingør, hvor man har skabt lette, himmelstræbende broer, der spænder på kryds og tværs i den gamle tørdok.
Assertiv kommunikation
Rambøll har stået for konstruktionen af Musikkens Hus i Aalborg sammen med arkitektfirmaet Coop Himmelb(l)au. Her er det lykkedes at skabe et organisk formet tag over foyerområdet, der forbinder bygningens endeltdele med hinanden og skaber et sammenhængende udtryk. Hans Exner fortæller:
- God ingeniørkunst spiller en større rolle på mange typer af projekter, hvor man ønsker et let udtryk. Lige nu arbejder jeg på beregninger foren overdækning med oppustede EFTE-foil cushions af Musiktorvet ved Amager Bio.
På Nordhavnsvej i København har vi netop skabt en nedkørsel til en vejtunnel, hvor en skærm med lameller vil give en gradvis reduktion af lyset, så bilisterne når at vænne sig til mørket.
Her er der både æstetiske og funktionelle krav, da stålkonstruktion skal kunne tåle vind og andre klimatiske påvirkninger.
Der er sket en enorm teknologisk udvikling over de sidste årtier, hvilket har åbnet op for nye modellerings- og beregningsmuligheder, ligesom et materiale som stål bliver udnyttet på helt nye måder, og Hans Exner mener da også, at samarbejdet mellem ingeniører og arkitekter er blevet vigtigere end nogensinde før:
- Arkitekterne er blevet frækkere og frækkere. Man kan sige, vi kommunikerer meget mere end tidligere, men der er også mere at snakke om. Min personlige kæphest er det assertive samarbejde, hvor man lytter til hinanden og respekterer hinandens holdninger.
Det er helt centralt, at man har en dialog om hvad, der er det vigtigste i et projekt, inden vi skal udarbejde de konkrete løsninger sammen. Succeskriteriet på et godt samarbejde er at alle parter efterfølgende er stolte og tager ejerskab til løsningen.
